The Guachipelín is among the most beautiful trees you will find in Costa Rica. It is the first tree to bloom before the dry season begins, when its crown becomes covered with a dense mantle of vibrant yellow, orange, and fiery red flowers. Beyond adorning any landscape, it also attracts an abundance of wildlife. The tree reproduces through seeds and cuttings, and its branches grow low, making it an ecological ally in protecting and stabilizing riverbanks. When it sheds all its leaves, it produces its fruits, and as the wind blows, they create a distinctive sound as they brush against each other.
